BIRATNAGAR, July 22: The police seized eight trucks of betel nuts ready to be taken to India. Biratnagar Metropolitan City-18 police seized the trucks loaded with betel nuts that were going to be taken to India via Buddhanagar on Thursday night.
There are 2,678 bags of betel nuts seized by the police. The police said that there are 2,19,596 kg of betel nuts in the trucks. According to the police, the value of the betel nuts seized from Indian trucks with registration numbers UP 45 T 1624, MP 09 HG 8324, MP 22 H 1031, UP 50 BT 7277, UP 62 BT 8121, UP 54 T 6429, UP 50 AT 3158 and UP 62 CT 0627 is more than Rs 80 million.
According to the District Police Office Morang, the betel nuts were seized after receiving a tip-off that a large quantity of betel nuts were about to be smuggled into India.
