Police rescues 49 women from correction home

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Forty-nine women have been rescued from a correction home based in Bishnumati of Budhanilkantha municipality-5. The Nepal Police Headquarters said the police intervened in the Kripaghar Correction Center and rescued the women residing there as it was found to be operating against the standard.

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Forty-nine women have been rescued from a correction home based in Bishnumati of Budhanilkantha municipality-5. The Nepal Police Headquarters said the police intervened in the Kripaghar Correction Center and rescued the women residing there as it was found to be operating against the standard. 


Police have taken the center's owner Shruti Gurung along with three others under control. A joint monitoring squad from the Metropolitan Police Sector Budhanilkantha, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu and Maiti Nepal reached the home to take stock of the situation at the correction home.

Among the rescued, 25 have been handed to guardians and 24 are taking shelter at Maiti Nepal. Further investigations into the issue are underway, said police. 


Meanwhile, police have arrested Sano Babu Karki of Hetauda sub-metropolis-5 while collecting gold ornaments illegally from the parking lot of Tribhuvan International Airport. He was arrested last night. 


Likewise, one Raju Pariyar was arrested by the police on Thursday evening on the charge of public fraud. He was caught red-handed while selling gold-plated ornaments claiming they were original. He was arrested from Jadibuti of Kathmandu. RSS
