UADAYAPUR, May 16: Police on Tuesday succeeded in evacuating 3 bigha land belonging to Udayapur Cement Industry Limited (UCIL) in Jaljale of Udayapur district, which was illegally encroached by some land brokers overnight.

By taking advantage of the absence of workers, the brokers had encroached upon some 3 bigha land belonging to the industry. Following the order of the District Administration Office (DAO), police cleared the illegally acquired land in the presence of local representatives and the workers of the industry.

On Monday, the industry had sought help from the District Administration Office claiming that some unknown people have started setting up tents in their land since the past two days. Following the complaint, the DAO had instructed the police to remove the illegally built tents from the land falling under the territory of the industry.

Kumar Khadka, administrative officer of the DAO, informed Republica that the brokers encroached the land by shifting the pillars into the land belonging to the industry. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harikrishna KC of the District Police Office (DPO), Udayapur, a team of police was deployed to the site as soon as they heard about the activity.

Police removed 50/60 bamboo pillars which erected inside the industry's compound illegally. It has been reported that no one objected when the police started removing the pillars and the tents.

"We received a letter from the DAO demanding the removal of the illegal structures on the encroached land," said DSP KC, adding, "Following which a team of police from the Area Police Office, Jaljale was mobilized."
