KATHMANDU, Nov 20: The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu refused to register a forgery complaint of National Sports Council (NSC) against Achyut Khanal, the former vice president of Nepal Baseball and Softball Association.

NSC has accused Khanal of using fake NSC letterhead and the signature of its Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama to get a visa to South Korea last month.[break]

According to NSC, Khanal had applied for the visa to participate in the congress of the Baseball Federation of Asia, presenting the fake recommendation letter.

NSC Member Secretary Lama said the police refused to register the complaint though District Administration Office, Kathmandu has ordered the police to take action.

“The police refused to register the complaint even as we presented substantial proof,” said Lama.

Lama said the police may have refused to register the complaint due to political pressure.

Meanwhile, SP Rajendra Shrestha said it is not under their jurisdiction to register a forgery case. “NSC is an autonomous sports body and can try Khanal in the court of law,” said Shrestha.
