Police raids ANNISU office

KATHMANDU, April 6 : Police has raided Bagbazar-based central office of the UCPN (Maoist) affiliated All Nepal National Independent Student Union (ANNISU) on Monday evening.

According to Ramesh Malla, coordinator of ANNISU, police has detained some student leaders, including Ranjit Tamang, Umesh Thapa, Devendra Pakhrin, Prakash Ghimire and Keshav Thani from the office. The arrest has been conducted just ahead of the general strike called by UCPN (Maoist)-led 30-party alliance.


 

Police have claimed that they were making preparations to stage a torch rally on Monday evening. ANNISU has claimed that dozens of its leaders and students have been injured in clash with the police.
