Police nabs 'ex-army man' with a pistol

KATHMANDU: A team of Metropolitan Police Circle Office, Maharajgunj, has nabbed two persons with a pistol from Sukedhara Chowk in Kahtmandu on Sunday evening. One of them has claimed that he was a former Nepal Army staff.



The police identified the duo as Durga Khadka, 26, of Ramechap and Hari Khatri, 28, of Okhaldhunga.

“Following a special tip-off we nabbed the two, and the investigation is underway,” DSP Prabhu Dhakal, the newly appointed Chief of Metropolitan Police Circle Office, said.



Khadka has claimed that he is an ex-army man.

“During the preliminary investigation, Khadka has claimed that he was former army staff but we are not sure whether he is telling the truth,” DSP Dhakal said. "We are trying to find out if he was belonged to the NA."



The two were walking on the road while the police nabbed them. Khadka had shelved the pistol hidden in his pants, DSP Dhakal said, adding that the ´Hawk Series´ pistol was not loaded.



However Khatri has confessed to the police that he was innocent and that he was in the Kathmandu to visit some relatives. Police has suspected them of having some connection with illegal activities or criminals.
