KATHMANDU, Feb 24: The Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD) of Nepal Police on Thursday arrested six persons on the charge of impersonating police officials deployed from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and robbing people.
Six arrested for robbing Rs 5 million in broad daylight
The arrestees are Bishwas Gharti Magar and Dhana Kumar Pariyar of Ranma Maikot in Rukum, Narayan Baniya, Ashok Baniya and Shiva Bahadur Baniya of Taple Village in Gorkha and Sudip Thapa Magar of Gorkha Municipality.
According to the MCD, the six robbed Prem Narayan Kharal and Bidhan Kharal on Tuesday evening after taking them hostage. When the Kharal duo came out of the New Road branch of Global IME Bank withdrawing Rs 427,000 on Tuesday evening, the gang followed them, portraying themselves as police officers deployed from the CIAA. They took Kharal duo in a taxi and robbed cash and three mobile sets as they reached Basundhara. The MCD deployed a search team after Kharal duo filed a complaint at the police station and arrested the thugs from different places in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
