DANG, Nov 10: Several improvised explosive devices (IED) were recovered from different places in Dang district during a banda enforced by CPN-Maoist on Sunday. Apparently, the banda was called to scuttle the visit of UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puhspa Kamal Dahal, who was scheduled to address an election rally there.

According to the local authorities, as many as 4 explosive devices were detected at different sections of the road through which Dahal was coming to the district. A bomb disposal team of Nepal Army (NA) disposed the explosives. [break]

Dahal was escorted to the district under tight security by the police after all the explosives were cleared. Referring to the planted explosives, Dahal said, “Though Baidya has tried to frighten him by planting bombs, he has failed in his attempt.”

He thanked Nepal Police and Nepal Army for their preparedness and prompt action.

According to the police, three explosive devices were recovered from three different places along Tulsipur road section and another one was found near Ghorahi, the district headquarters.

Normal life in the district was severely affected due to the banda called by the agitating party. The District Police Office also arrested two carders of the CPN-Maoist for trying to enforce banda.
