The press release stated that news reports claiming police personnel took Lamichhane from his detention cell while he was asleep, mistreated him, took him despite his illness, and that police personnel were intoxicated, were fabricated and false.
The press release read: "On December 4, during the recording of a statement from Lamichhane at the District Government Attorney's Office (DGAO) in Chitwan, a crowd attempted to obstruct the investigation. There were violent incidents including hurling of stones at the police and attempting to enter the office. Due to bad weather, it was not possible to transport him by air, and given the increased security challenges from the crowd, special precautions were taken. After recording his statement, Lamichhane was given the opportunity to meet his family. Following this, at 12:05 am on December 5, he was transported from Chitwan to the DPO, Kaski, with security precautions in place."
The police have urged that information should only be communicated based on facts, stating that false details are being spread on social media to create confusion among the public.
The police have stated that the legal procedures and human rights standards were fully adhered to during Lamichhane's transfer. They also appealed to avoid activities that could influence the investigation, emphasizing that the investigation is continuing in accordance with the standards of the criminal justice system.
