KATHMANDU, May 9: The Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) has taken gangster Chakre Milan into custody on Tuesday.
A team of MPCD under the command of DSP arrested him from his home in Chakrapath at around 3 pm Tuesday afternoon, citing that he could be a threat to the security in upcoming local level polls.
A case of money laundering against him has been filed at the Special Court. He is believed to be close to the CPN-UML.
Gangster Chakre Milan arrested
The police have made a list of one hundred 24 people who are assumed to be security threat to the upcoming local level elections.
The division had arrested another gangster Deepak Manange two days earlier and is in custody for public offence case.
Likewise, central member of Democratic Forum, gangster Ganesh Lama is also under surveillance of the division though he has not been detained.
Tejendra, brother of Chakre Milan was arrested. He was, however, released on bail in less than 24 hours.
The division has detained 46 gangsters till now among which, 38 have already been bailed out of the detention. “Though they have been released on bail, they have been kept in regular attendance”, said SSP Chabilal Joshi , Kathmandu Police Chief.
Six gangsters are still in custody including Chakre Milan.
