KATHMANDU, May 9: Two days after the arrest of gangster Deepak Manange, the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) arrested another notorious gangster Chakre Milan from Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Chakre’s arrest comes as a part of the Nepal Police’s ongoing crackdown on gangsters involved in various criminal activities in Kathmandu.
A team of MPCD under the command of a DSP arrested Chakre him from his home in Chakrapath at around 3 pm Tuesday afternoon, citing that he could be a threat to the security in the upcoming local polls.

Chakre Milan, who is considered close to the main opposition UML, faces multiple charges of money laundering and extortion.
MPCD officials said that other gangsters operating in Kathmandu and other parts of the country would also be detained before the upcoming polls.
The division has detained 46 gangsters so far. Of them, a total of 38 gangsters have been released on bail. “Although they have been released on bail, they have to report back regularly,” said SSP Chhabilal Joshi, Kathmandu police chief.
Nepal Police has prepared a list of 124 people who are presumed to be security threat during the upcoming local level elections.
Police have not yet detained another gangster Ganesh Lama, who is a central committee member of Nepal Loktantrik Forum. SSP Joshi said that Lama is under close police surveillance.
