CHITWAN, May 27: Police have arrested a suspect on charges of setting fire to a bus belonging to Small Heaven School in Kalyanpur, Bharatpur, Chitwan.
The arrested person is Bishwanath Tharu Mahesh. According to the police, Tharu is also the Chairman of the School Management Committee of Shosi National Secondary School, located in Bharatpur-25.
Police arrested him at the school on May 24. The school, in a statement, protested the arrest of the Chairman of the Management Committee on the school premises.

Police claim that Tharu's group stopped the bus (Ba Pra 06-001 Ka 0045) of Small Heaven School in Kalyanpur, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-5, on the morning of May 12 and hurled a petrol bomb at it.
The arson was carried out by a group of six individuals who arrived at the incident site on three motorcycles. Police are currently searching for the other suspects involved in the incident.
Additionally, Tharu's group is accused of threatening employees and setting fire to the office of Suryodaya Womi Microfinance Institution in Bharatpur-26, Jyotinagar, on February 11, 2024.
The District Court, Chitwan, has granted a seven-day extension for Tharu’s further investigation.
According to police, Tharu, a former member of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Biplav faction of Maoists, has been continuously involved in criminal activities and is now acting independently in the district.
