Pokhrel urges people for majority in CA poll

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel has urged the people to give majority to his party once for institutionalizing the achievement of past movements.



Speaking at a greetings exchange program organized on the occasion of upcoming Bijaya Dashami, Tihar and Chhath festivals by the party ward committee body at Hadigaun here on Friday, the UML general secretary claimed the then Manomohan Adhikari-led government in 2051 BS brought a lot of positive changes in the country´s economic and social sectors and urged the people to make the party victorious in the upcoming CA election to institutionalize such changes.[break]



"The UML has appropriate policies and programs that could lead the country towards development," he added.



He said his party has come up with the concept of seven provinces based on multiple-identity for balanced development of the country.



Nepali festivals are for maintaining social harmony and national unity, he said, stressing that no political parties should perform in such a way that would jeopardize the communal harmony.



Nepal Engineering Association Chairman Mahendra Bahadur Gurung urged people to give votes to that party which is able to draft a new constitution.



Cine artiste Bhuwan KC said he withdrew his candidacy from the Kathmandu constituency No.1 on his own wish as there are top leaders from the constituency who have great contributions to the party and are capable for contending in the election.
