KATHMANDU, August 16: Senior Journalist Basanta Pokhrel has passed away. Pokhrel, 68, died on Monday night at his residence in Belbas, Butwal.
Pokhrel was the editor of Butwal Today, a newspaper published from Butwal, since its inception, and later he served as the consultant editor of the newspaper. He was also the vice president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Rupandehi chapter.

Ramraj Pokharel, president of the Federation, said that journalist Pokharel's death has caused a great loss in the field of journalism. His last rites are being performed today at Magar ghat in Butwal.
