KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Senior journalist and children litterateur Vinaya Kumar Kasajoo passed away on Tuesday.
Kasajoo died of pneumonia while undergoing treatment at Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur in the afternoon.
Kasajoo was born to a middle-class family in Palpa district in 1947. He was the first chief commissioner of the National Information Commission (2008-2012).

Kasajoo was popular for children's literature and satirical flash fictions. He authored many books on mass communication and journalism.
He also penned dozens of books on children's literature and other genres of literature in Nepali and English.
He served as the member of the High-Level Media Advisory Commission (July – September 2006), advisor of Press Council Nepal (1995 – 1999) and member of the board of directors of Rashtriya Samachar Samiti (National News Agency), (1998.).
He started the publication of Gaunle Deurali, the first newspaper in South Asia focusing on rural affairs in 1993.
People from various walks of life including media fraternity have expressed deep condolences on his demise.
