Pokhara's hot air balloon adventures set to resume from September 1

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Pokhara's hot air balloon rides are all set to recommence on September 1 following a three-month hiatus due to the monsoon season.

Balloon Nepal's President, Bikram Bade, mentioned that the adventure entails ascending up to 6,000 feet in the sky, giving passengers breathtaking views of iconic peaks such as Mt Machhapuchhre and Mt Annapurna, the serene Fewa Lake, the impressive Pumdikot Mahadev, Sarangkot Mandredhunga, and the picturesque landscapes gracing the Pokhara Valley. In a remarkable expansion, the company, which previously operated a single balloon, is now set to launch two balloons, each navigated by skilled American and Vietnamese pilots.

Bade emphasized that the launch point for the hot air balloon rides will be Pame in Pokhara. These rides are scheduled in two shifts: from 5 AM to 9 AM and from 3 PM to 6 PM. Balloon Nepal's flight experience caters to individuals aged three years and above, ensuring a captivating escapade for a diverse range of enthusiasts.

For Nepali tourists, the cost for embarking on a hot air balloon ride is set at Rs 9,500. Visitors from SAARC nations can avail the experience for US$100, while tourists from other countries can partake for US$130. Inclusive of the fee are additional amenities such as breakfast, round-trip transportation between Lakeside and Pame, and a commemorative certificate. For those seeking an exclusive voyage, private flights can be reserved for Rs 55,000 for half an hour and Rs 80,000 for a full hour.
