Speaking at a press meet organised by the Press Chautari Nepal on Friday to give information about the public demonstrations that have been planned for October 5, leader Nepal said there was no possibility of talks and discussions among the political parties to forge national consensus until and unless the Prime Minister steps down.[break]
Stating that chances of forging consensus are becoming slim as the UCPN (Maoist) has still a strategy of capturing state power, the former Prime Minister accused the UCPN (Maoist) of playing a negative role towards the nation.
He stressed that the people should hit the streets against the activities of the incumbent government that has been proved as a ´model government´ in terms of corruption in Nepal´s history.
The objective of a joint agitation of all the opposition parties announced for October 5 is to create public pressure for forcing the incumbent government to step down and it would be successful in meeting the target, he said.
Similarly, CPN-UML Valley Coordination Committee Coordinator Krishna Gopal Shrestha claimed that a joint agitation is aimed at foiling the strategy of capturing state power adopted by the UCPN (Maoist).
