PM's election on July 21

KATHMANDU, July 13: The election for the post of prime minister has been set for July 21, chairman of the legislature parliament Subas Nembang made the announcement in the House on Tuesday, our correspondent Thira L. Bhusal reported.



Earlier, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the parliament had recommended election to the post of prime minister after consensus efforts among the political parties failed. [break]



According to Dinanath Sharma, one of the members of the committee, the nomination for the post will be filed by July 20 and the election will be held at 11 a.m. the day after.



The extended deadline by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav -- asking the parties to form a consensus government -- expired on Monday. The president had called upon the parties to form a majority government after the big three political parties -- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML -- failed to forge consensus.
