KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Thursday traveled to Bidur, Nuwakot, to inspect areas affected by the recent floods and assess the damage firsthand.
Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal is accompanying the prime minister. The team left Kathmandu by road at 9:30 a.m. for Bidur, one of the areas hardest hit by the floods.

Prime Minister Shah has been actively overseeing rescue and relief efforts since floodwaters from the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa caused widespread damage in riverside settlements on Wednesday.
Following the disaster, Shah convened high-level meetings and directed relevant government agencies to intensify rescue and relief operations. He has also continued to coordinate and facilitate the government’s response.
During Thursday’s visit, Shah is scheduled to inspect Bidur and surrounding affected settlements in Nuwakot, where the floods have caused damage to homes and infrastructure.
The prime minister and the infrastructure minister will assess the extent of physical damage and hold discussions with local administration officials, security agencies and elected representatives on relief, rehabilitation and the restoration of disrupted infrastructure.
They are also expected to issue directives to expedite relief distribution in all affected areas and accelerate the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure.
