At an interaction organized by the Reporters' Club at Bhrikutimandap on Monday morning, Minister Rijal who is also the Spokesperson of the government said the PM Koirala, since the formation of present government, was very positive to make the national government, so that democratic republic could be institutionalized.
"It is positive that other political parties have also shown interest in forming national government following the disaster," he said, adding that PM was ready to lead the national government.
On a different note, he said it was not a time to doubt much and make negative comments only on government activities but to be united for the help of the earthquake survivors.
He further said as only tents would not suffice for shelter to families with damaged houses, the government was providing Rs 15,000 as immediate help to them.
According to him, some 1.2 million corrugated sheets were needed at present. Those making shelter themselves could be provided grants and low-interest loans.
Moreover, Minister Rijal said he had begun visiting media houses which received damages due to the earthquakes and a work plan would be framed for compensation after assessing damages.
The government, as he said, has fully recognized the role of the media that remained dauntless even during the disaster and kept on continuing service.
Although discussion was held on using the camps of the former Maoist fighters and the Bhutanese refugees for the quake victims, final decision on resettlement of the quake victims would be taken only after taking the views from affected ones. RSS
