PM, Prez congratulate NZ governor

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai have extended their sincere congratulations to New Zealand´s Governor General Jeremiah Mateparae and Prime Minister John Key, on the occasion of the national day of New Zealand.



In the congratulatory message sent separately to their respective counterparts, the President and the Prime Minister expressed confident that the friendly relations existing between Nepal and New Zealand will grow further in the years ahead.[break]



New Zealand achieved independence from the United Kingdom in 1907.



"February 6th is marked as New Zealand’s national day to celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, the founding document of Aotearoa (New Zealand in Maori).
