KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Prime Minister K P Oli is visiting the Election Commission (EC) office today to inquire about the preparation being made for the midterm elections scheduled for April 30 and May 10.
Although sources said that Prime Minister Oli along with a few senior leaders of his faction is visiting the EC office at 11 am to furnish claims to recognize his faction of the party as the official NCP, leaders close to Oli claimed that the meeting will be focused primarily on the preparations being made by the election body to hold the midterm election. Prime Minister Oli will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, and senior leader Subas Nembang.

Earlier, the EC had invited chairmen of both the factions of the NCP had invited for holding discussions about the preparations of the midterm elections. While seven leaders of the Oli-led faction had participated in the meeting to hold a discussion, while Rajendra Pandey, Lila Mani Pokharel, and others of the Dahal-led faction had returned after submitting a letter to the election body.
A few days later, leaders close to the Dahal-led faction of the NCP had reached the EC to make a written demand to recognize their faction as the official NCP. The EC is currently hearing on the demand made by the Dahal-led faction.
