PM Oli undergoes PCR test for COVID-19

KATHMANDU, May 7:  Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has undergone the real time-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) to see if he is diagnosed with the COVID-19. 

Swab samples of Prime Minister Oli were taken at his official residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu, according to Prime Minister Oli’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa. 

Similarly, swab samples of more than 100 people including the staff at the prime minister’s secretariat, security personnel and drivers were also collected for the test. 

PM Oli underwent the test three days before he is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence at the House of Representatives (HoR). 

Earlier, a total of 609 PCR tests of lawmakers, staffers at the parliament secretariat, journalists and security personnel deployed at parliament were conducted on Wednesday and Thursday. Of them, five lawmakers and three employees of the federal parliament secretariat tested positive for COVID-19.
