KATHMANDU, May 14: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will take the oath of office and secrecy on Friday afternoon.

PM Oli was re-appointed to the post of Prime Minister by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday evening in his capacity as the leader of the largest political party in the House of Representatives (HoR) as per Article 76 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal after no party laid claim to form a coalition government within the given deadline.

Oli, who has now become PM for a third time, is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy at 2PM on Friday at Sheetal Niwas, the President’s Office.

Earlier on Monday, Oli lost his position as the PM after failing to receive a vote of confidence from the members of parliament.

Oli, however, is required to secure parliament’s confidence by June 12 as Article 76 (4) states that the Prime Minister appointed under Article 76 (2) or (3) shall obtain a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives no later than thirty days after the date of such appointment.
