PM Oli's China visit: Economic sector to reach to a new height

KATHMANDU, June 17: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's China visit is expected to take the country's economic sector to a new height by strengthening mutual relations between the two countries. 


Prime Minister Oli is embarking on a five-day official visit to China on June 19 at the invitation of Chinese Prime Minister, Li Keqiang. Agreement would be signed on various issues of tourism and economic sector during the visit. 


Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, in the presence of Prime Minister Oli and the delegation visiting China with PM, expressed the belief that the China visit would be meaningful and it would take the Nepal-China relations to a new height.

Foreign Minister Gyawali said, "An agreement regarding Trans Himalayan railway will be signed. It is the most significant initiative. It will start a new era in the sector of mutual cooperation." 


Briefing about the preparation for the China visit, he said that preparation for the visit has been made with a focus on the economic issues as political stability has been established in the country and the country has now focused its attention towards the journey of economic prosperity. 


Foreign Minister said, "Discussion would be held for the implementation of the past agreement signed with China during Oli's first premiership", expressing the belief that this China visit of the Prime Minister would help further strengthen Nepal-China relations. 


He further said that announcement made regarding establishment of Koshi Economic Corridor, Gandaki Economic Corridor and Karnali Economic Corridor would be transformed into agreement during the visit. 


Different MoUs regarding opening eight border points for supply of food in Tibet, an autonomous region of China, construction of Kerung-Kathmandu railway, establishment of mechanism between Nepal and China and construction of 'Nepal-China Friendship Bridge' at Tatopani of Sindhupalchowk would be signed during the visit, added Minister Gyawali. 



Prime Minister Oli will be accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Foreign Minister Gyawali, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth, Prime Minister's Chief Advisor Bishnu Rimal, lawmakers, high-level government officials and representatives from private sector and media persons.
