KATHMANDU, Aug 7: European Union Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday.
In the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, PM Oli expressed his gratitude for the European Union’s support for Nepal's economic and social development.
He also stated that efforts are underway to resolve the issue of transitional justice, which remains a pending task in the peace process.

Prime Minister Oli explained that the bill for amending the Enforced Disappeared Persons Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2014 is progressing.
This amendment addresses the core principles of the Comprehensive Peace Accord, Supreme Court orders, international practices, and the concerns of the victims. The bill is focused on investigating missing people and ensuring justice, truth, and reconciliation.
PM Oli, while remembering the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the European Union, stated that Nepal is set to emerge as a developing nation by 2026 and a middle-income country by 2030. He further emphasized that the support from development partners is crucial to achieve these goals.
PM Oli further emphasized on the Nepali government's full commitment to democracy and its active efforts in poverty alleviation and socio-economic development.
Ambassador Lorenzo conveyed best wishes for the success of the government's agendas and wished PM Oli a successful tenure.
