Visiting the areas in Dolakha, Ramechhap and Sindhupalchowk districts, PM Koirala directed the local administration to make the search, rescue and relief distribution programmes more effective.
PM Koirala sought information from Chief District Officer of Dolakha Prem Lal Lamichhane at the district headquarters regarding the losses caused by the earthquake. On the occasion, Koirala pledged that none would be rendered homeless.He pledged abundant relief materials to the survivors including free treatment to the injured, waving off loan, subsidy in agro seeds and the construction of temporary shelters.
The locals demanded the government arrange for heavy equipments to clear off highways disrupted by the earthquake devastations, resume health posts and hospitals and schools remained closed following the earthquake damages and bring a special package to minimise the further disaster risks in the area that has developed fissures in the earthquake.
After the Dolakha vist, the PM team reached Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, one of the districts affected by the recent earthquake. He met with representatives of political parties and chiefs of local administration and security bodies and acquired updates of the earthquake damages in the districts and search, rescue and relief efforts launched after the disaster.
PM Koirala said the government was using the available domestic and foreign resources and tools for rescue and relief works and promised the quake victims the government would supply adequate relief materials.
On the occasion, Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Marasini shared the district did not receive sufficient relief materials while stressing they faced a major challenge of a secured settlement for the people.
The PM's entourage later went to Chautara, the headquarters of Sindhupalchowk district, where Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Gyawali presented the details of the losses incurred till date and the information related to the ongoing search, rescue and relief operation.
In response, PM Koirala instructed him to send adequate tarpaulin sheets, corrugated zinc sheets and other relief materials to all the affected parts of the district.
CDO Gyawali said works for the settlement of the displaced people was taking place under a sustainable plan and pledged to provide shelter to all before the onset of monsoon season.
PM Koirala instructed the local administration and security bodies to remain on extra vigil to contain the scale of loss of lives and properties in the aftermath of the earthquake and provide necessary information to the people to save them from the impact of the crisis. RSS
