PM Deuba and his Indian counterpart Modi jointly inaugurate Janakpur-Jayanagar Railway, Solu Corridor Transmission Line

KATHMANDU, April 2: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, have jointly inaugurated the operation of the railway service from New Delhi, India. The prime ministers of the two neighbors flagged off and inaugurated the service operation amidst a special ceremony held in the Indian capital.

KATHMANDU, April 2: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, have jointly inaugurated the operation of the railway service from New Delhi, India. The prime ministers of the two neighbors flagged off and inaugurated the service operation amidst a special ceremony held in the Indian capital. 


The prime ministers of two countries have also jointly inaugurated Solu Corridor Transmission Line built at the cost of Rs 200 crores as well as launched Rupay Card in Nepal. Rupey  is the first global card payment network from India. Nepal SBI Bank with support from Nepal Rastra Bank will now make Rupay Card functional on all Nepal SBI points of sale machines in Nepal. 1400 such machines are present across Nepal including Pashupatinath and Lumbini.

At the event, there was also an exchange of four documents signed between India and Nepal. Devendra Karki, Energy secretary of Nepal, handed over the signed agreement of International Solar Alliance to Dr Ajay Mahato, Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).


Similarly, Rabindra Nath Shrestha, Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and VK Tripathi, Chairman Indian Railway Board, exchanged a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on enhancing Technical Corporation in the railway sector.


There has also been exchange of agreement on the supply of petroleum products as well as exchange of agreement for sharing of technical expertise between Shreekant Madhav Baidya, Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and Dr Ganesh Prasad Pandey, Chairman of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).
