KATHMANDU, March 30: The foundation stone of the new terminal building at Bharatpur airport has been laid on Thursday.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal laid the foundation stone on Thursday to be built in 3 years. The terminal building will cost around Rs 2 billion.
The Aerodrome Engineering Department under the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority (CAAN) is about to build a new terminal building.
The CAAN had awarded the contract to KC-Kshamadevi-Pratista JV on March 20. The CAAN has signed a contract for Rs 1.92 billion.
Although ATR 72 can land at most airports in the Terai, it does not land at Bharatpur airport. ATR 42 and TwinOtter ships have been operating flights to and from Bharatpur airport.
