KAILALI, Attariya, July 9: CPN-UML Chairperson Jhalanath Khanal has said that Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai should resign from his post to pave the way for the formation of national consensus government.

At a press meet organized here today by Press Chautari Nepal, Kailali Chapter, Chairperson Khanal further said the country´s politics could not make headway without consensus so that the incumbent´ government´s resignation was a must to that end. [break]

He also stressed that all the political parties should come together to give outlet to a constitutional crisis emerged in the country following the dissolution of Constituent Assembly (CA).

Announcing polls after dissolving the CA was merely a ploy to extend the tenure of the government, he claimed, adding that, ´Elections could not take place on coming November 22´.

There is no more chance of building consensus for the constitutional amendment by July 22, he further said while referring the statement by Election Commission that said election could be held if the parties amended constitution for election.

The government could not come up with full-fledged budget without consensus among the political parties, leader Khanal said while warning to challenge the move if it was brought sans consensus.

´The army integration process should move ahead based on the consensus in special committee´, he noted, adding that the task has witnessed obstruction when the government was opting to put forward the process in a unilateral manner.

He clearly said that there was no possibility of the return of the monarchy though the deposed King Gyanendra was trying to catch fish in contaminated water.
