DAMAK, April 1: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday made an announcement to build an earthquake museum in Damak that will create awareness among the upcoming generation about the catastrophic earthquake of 2015.

While inaugurating the literature festival in Damak Municipality, PM Oli assured that a museum would be built in the northern part of the municipality very soon. He informed the locals that the government has already held a discussion with the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) regarding the museum.

"As the museum will be constructed in between Damak and Chure area, the municipality and NRA have already consulted in this matter," said PM Oli.

On a different note, PM Oli said that Province 1 is not just rich in culture, history and natural beauty but is also known as the capital of rhododendron, tea, cardamom and various other herbs.

Recently, PM Oli's personal secretary, as well as former executive officer of Damak Yuvaraj Dahal, died in a deadly chopper crash, which killed six more including Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari. As a view tower is being constructed in Damak in his memory, PM suggested naming it Yuvaraj Dahal View Tower.

He appreciated the local unit of making progress in the development sector. "Damak will soon have an industrial park and various other structures which will play a pivotal role in its development," said PM Oli.

On Sunday itself, PM Oli attended the annual function of Madan Bhandari Memorial Academy in Urlabari.
