The 9N-AFT, which had taken off from Nepalgunj and arrived at the airport at 11:51am, overshot the runway by 50 meters, according to the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Nepalgunj, Devananda Upadhyaya. Civil aviation officials claimed the airport is considerably dangerous as landing and taking off is done from a single direction from which wind (tail wind) blows.
There is a large rock near the runway which the officials have not been able to remove despite many attempts.
