Qatar Airways plane overshoots runway

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: A Qatar Airways plane that came to Kathmandu from Doha, Qatar has overshot the runway. The plane overshot the runway when it was about to land at Tribhuvan International Airport at 7:12 this morning.

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: A Qatar Airways plane that came to Kathmandu from Doha, Qatar has overshot the runway. The plane overshot the runway when it was about to land at Tribhuvan International Airport at 7:12 this morning.


According to the airport office, the plane of Qatar Airways was overshot due to 'unstable approaches'. "The plane overshot without matching the approach, sometimes without matching the 'approach profile', this happens even when the aircraft is coming at high altitude," said a senior official of the airport.

According to the airport, the aircraft that overshoots in this way makes a round and lands again in a period of about 20 minutes. An approach to Kathmandu Airport should be taken from the sky above Simara. International flights take an approach from the sky above Simara while landing at Kathmandu airport.
