Without naming any political party or leaders, the strongly-worded statement has apparently responded to UML leaders´ allegations that perpetrators of the murder of a local UML leader, Prachanda Thaiba, in Butwal are taking shelter in Maoist cantonment sites. The statement has termed the UML leaders "monkey natured" and their allegations "narrow-minded and prejudiced".
"Attention of 28 cantonments of all seven divisions has been seriously drawn (by UML allegations)," said the statement. "We want to strongly refute it and want to challenge the leaders to prove that the cantonments have become haven for criminals as soon as possible. Otherwise, we won´t tolerate this contempt."
The statement also said the leaders should be held responsible in the event the peace process is derailed due to the outburst of undercurrent of impatience and rage from the cantonments.
The statement is signed by Santa Kumar Darai of the first division, Dhan Bahadur Maskey of the second, Prakash GM (third), Yam Bahadur Adhikari (4th), Suka Bahadur Roka (5th), Tej Bahadur Oli (6th) and Mahendra Bahadur Shahi (7th).
