KATHMANDU, Oct 28: People from various walks of life staged a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala in the capital on Thursday, demanding an end to all kinds of interventions in the independent judiciary.
They demanded that the courts should be allowed to run according to the constitution and not according to the wishes of the chief justice.
Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana landed in a serious controversy recently after he allegedly sought his share in the government. Nepal Bar Association (NBA) and former chief justices have demanded Chief Justice Rana’s resignation for the same. The justices of the Supreme Court, apart from Chief Justice Rana, have not conducted any hearing in the court since Monday.
