Physical infrastructure needed for cricket development, says newly-elected CAN Chair

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: The newly-elected Chairman of Cricket Association of Nepal, Chatur Bahadur Chand, has said that challenges galore to take Nepali cricket team to the height that of neighboring countries India and Pakistan.

Talking to the media after his reelection as the CAN Chairman, Chand said that the government should work in the physical infrastructure sector for the development of cricket.

He also shared his plan to change the internal mechanism of the CAN within three months adding that he would lead the organization in a new style.

Chand, who served his first term in the CAN, claimed that he did something in his first tenure. 

In today's election, Roshan Singh and Padam Bahadur Khadka were elected to the post of vice-chairman and treasurer, respectively, unopposed.

Likewise, former captain of Nepali cricket team Paras Khadka was elected as the secretary of the CAN.

Khadka made it to the point by defeating Prashanta Bikram Malla. Khadka got 48 votes while Malla received 37 votes.

After his election, Paras said that the district and province committees of the CAN would be strengthened and added that he would remain effortful to create a conducive environment for the players so that they would make their living by playing cricket.
