Phul Kumar wins twin gold

KATHMANDU, July 16: Phul Kumar Rajbanshi of Pashupati Higher Secondary School bagged two gold medals on the final day of the 20th Inter-school National Special Sports Meet on Thursday.

Phul Kumar claimed boy's 100m and 200m sprints for physical disability by clocking 12.06 seconds and 28.16 seconds respectively.Rajan Pun of Jana Jagriti and Surya Bahadur Bhujel of Sarswati Higher Secondary School finished second and third respectively in both sections.

Meanwhile, Sunita Pariyar of Ganga Higher Secondary School won girl's 100m and 200m sprints for physical disability by completing the distance in 16.81 seconds and 37.53 seconds. Khusbu Jaiswal of Janata HSS came second in 100m, while Muna Puri of Manakamana claimed silver in 200m sprint.

Purushottam of Shree Secondary School and Sushma Karki of Kanti Bhairav won gold in 100m for single crutch in boy's and girl's sections respectively, while Tej Bahadur Rana of Bageshwari and Rihana Sheikh of Mangal Prasad claimed golds in 100m race for double crutches.

Lokendra Ghartimagar of Khagendra Navajivan and Sunita Pariyar of Ganga HSS came first in shot-put in boy's and girl's section for physical disabilities.

Likewise, Man Singh Bista (2.26 meters) of Raghunath Adarsha and Sabina Bhattrai (1.60 meters) of Laboratory won long jump golds in the visually-impaired category. Amardeep Rai of Purbanchal Gyanchachhuka and Shanta Mahta of Namuna Machhindra stood first in shot-put for boy's and girl's for same section.

Similarly, Rupesh Chaudhary of Purbhanchal Bahira School won 200m and 400m sprints for hearing impaired in the boys' section, while Sanju Rana of Bahira Bal HSS claimed 200m sprint gold and Rita Nagarkoti of Kendriya Bahira HSS came first in 400m sprint for girls.

The winners, runners-up and third finishers bagged Rs 1,500, Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 respectively.

Meanwhile, Rahul Kumar Yadav and Sangita Basnet claimed gold medals in the Table Tennis Tournament organized by National Table Tennis Association for hearing impaired.

Rahul Kumar beat Sundar Karki 11-5, 11-4, 11-2, while Sangita finished 11-4, 11-7, 11-5 in the finals.
