DOLKHA, Nov 13: Locals have protested against the minister, secretary and director general of the Department of Road (DoR) for leaving the construction of Charikot-Mude road incomplete for years.

The Shankarmali Construction Service, which was awarded the contract to expand the Mude-Charikot road section, has been neglecting the road for the past six years as the government bodies concerned have failed to take any action against the construction company.

Citing negligence of the DoR, the locals of Dolakha have staged a symbolic protest by pasting photos of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Renu Yadav, Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport Management Rabindranath Shrestha and Director General of the DoR Arjun Jung Thapa in all passenger buses plying on the road.

Along with the photo, they have expressed their indignation by writing slogans like 'How long will the government look at the misery of the people of Dolakha'.

This Lamosanghu-Jiri road section, which is being expanded with the investment of Exim Bank of India, has remained in dilapidated condition for six years due to poor performance of the contractor. The locals have been protesting time and again to draw the attention of the government to complete the construction work on time.
