KATHMANDU, Aug 20: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) is scheduled to hold the parliamentary hearing on the complaints registered against the proposed Chief Justice (CJ) Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha tomorrow.
Today's meeting of the PHC has decided to hold a parliamentary hearing on the appointment of the Chief Justice on Monday.
If Shrestha’s appointment is not appropriate for the mentioned position, the PHC had requested them to provide clear evidence and substantial proof within 10 days. Following the committee's public notice on August 9, there were only three complaints. After taking information from the complainant at the beginning of the committee's meeting on Monday, the hearing of the proposed Chief Justice will begin. Earlier, documents were distributed to the members to inform them about the complaints received in the meeting.
During the parliamentary hearing, proposed CJ Shrestha will present his qualifications, experience, action plan and concept. The PHC will then decide whether or not to approve his name for the post of Chief Justice.
