KATHMANDU, April 22: A writ petition has been registered at the Supreme Court demanding time-bound appointments in constitutional bodies. Arguing that the positions at the constitutional bodies are lying vacant for a long time, advocate Kapil Dev Dhakal filed the writ petition demanding time-bound appointments.

The petitioner has argued that the political parties have established a tradition of delaying appointments, waiting for a favorable situation to appoint their near and dear ones, though there are legal provisions regulating such appointments.

The writ petition demands an order for appointments in constitutional bodies within a fixed timeframe after the positions fall vacant.

Dhakal has named the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Law, Parliament Secretariat, Judicial Council and Constitutional Council as defendants.
