JALESHWOR, Dec 23: Senior citizens, single women and differently abled people in Mahottari district are unable to get their social security allowances provided by the government due to the negligence on the part of their bank.

The district that consists of 10 municipalities and five rural municipalities started providing allowances for single women, children (nutrition allowance), disable people and senior citizens  through the local bank.

Buddha Bahadur Mahara of Jaleshwor Municipality-8 said that he faced difficulties while he tried to get the allowance. According to Shila Devi of Jaleshwor Municipality-3, the bank has been calling the service recipients on a daily basis but not providing them the allowances. She complained that she could not get the allowance even after visiting Prabhu Bank in Jaleshwor for three days.

The bank has been distributing allowances to only 20-25 people in a day. Another local, Bilakchhan Khatwe, who reached Laxmi Bank to collect the allowance, complained that he could not get it even though he visited the bank for four days. He said that even after waiting in line for a few hours, he was forced to return empty-handed.

The local level has adopted the banking system to prevent irregularities in the payment of social security allowances. Chief Administrative Officer of Jaleshwor Municipality Ramuraj Kadaria said the service recipients failed to get proper service due to the lack of proper management of the banks.
