Pedestrian dies in hit-and-run case in Lazimpat

KATHMANDU, April 13: A pedestrian in Lazimpat died early morning on Wednesday after a vehicle in high speed hit him causing serious injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Raju Khadka from Ranibari-29 of Kathmandu. According to the police, Khadka's age is said to be around 35 years.The white color vehicle that struck Khadka was rushing from Keshar Mahal to Maharajgunj, according to SP Lokendra Bahadur Malla, spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Traffic Division. The road accident took place near Shangrila Hotel around 3:45 am. The police are yet to identify the vehicle.

SP Malla said that the police have been intensifying search for the vehicle and its driver. Lazimpat is considered to be highly sensitive area in terms of VVIP security and is kept under high resolution CCTV surveillance.

"We examined the CCTV footages of the area but the vehicle's number has not been traced yet," said SP Malla, adding, "As it was early morning, there weren't any witnesses in the given time and spot."

Seriously injured Khadka was pronounced dead when he was taken to the TUTH, Maharajgunj after the incident.
