Patrol teams mobilized to maintain law and order

BHADRAPUR, Sept 18: The District Police Office, Jhapa is to tighten the security in the district during the Dashain and Tihar festival.



Four patrol teams have been deputed for a month from Saturday to maintain vigil on long routes on in all VDCs and municipalities in the district to prevent any type of crime.[break]



As well as, police units at highway will also carry out cross patrolling by maintaining coordination with each other, which will help control different criminal activities including smuggling, extortion and robbery likely to take place during the festivals, informed Superintendent of Police Tarani Prasad Lamsal.



A quick response team has been formed at the District Police Office for emergency situation. The team consists of 15 members while a team comprising 10 police personnel has been managed at the Area Police Offices in areas identified as high-risk areas.



SP Lamsal said arrangements have been made for mobilizing especially trained dogs for checking for bags, weapons and explosives at various places including government offices, financial institutions, hotels, check points, lodges and on private and public vehicles.



Likewise, pamphlets will be distributed to public to create awareness for reducing criminal activities during the festival season.



They will take action against those involved in gambling, drunk driving and violating traffic rules, the District Police Office informed.
