Parties still differ on army ranks to ex Maoist combatants

KATHMANDU, March 11
: The four major political forces—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front--have reached to consensus on all contentious issues but ranks of former Maoist combatants integrated in the Nepal Army.



The parties have also agreed to hold an all-party meeting on Tuesday to settle all the contentious issues.[break]It has been learnt that the parties have also agreed on formation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission today.



However, the UCPN (Maoist) proposal of one colonels and two lieutenant colonels in the Nepal Army is yet to be agreed upon by the opposition parties—NC and UML.



Earlier, the parties on Sunday agreed to remove constitutional hurdles in the formation of new government and holding elections.[break]



The draft proposal on process of removing hurdles was submitted to Chief Justice Khilraj Regmi who is expected to head the new government.
