DULEGAUDA, Tanahun, July 4: Senior Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai claimed on Saturday that attempts are being made to dissolve the Constituent Assembly (CA) and impose a president´s rule with army backing. [break]

"We have credible information that attempts are being made to dissolve the CA, sack Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and impose a presidential rule with army backing," Bhattarai said at a function organized in Dulegauda in Tanahun district.

He claimed that Prime Minister Nepal and another senior CPN-UML leader K P Sharma Oli were working on cue from foreign elements. "Attempts are being made to impose military rule by projecting a civilian ruler like in Bangladesh," he said.

He urged the people to be ready for yet another mass movement that he called "people´s revolt" to foil such attempts.

Bhattarai said the allegations against the U-CPN (Maoist) of not renouncing violent activities even after signing the peace accord were baseless.

"What we all are trying to do is attain more by consolidating the achievements of the 10-year-old people´s movement and the 19-day mass movement," he said.

The former finance minister also accused other political forces of trying to push the Maoists back to the war.

At least 350 cadres from CPN-UML, Nepali Congress and Janashakti Party joined the Unified CPN (Maoist) at the function. Bhattarai welcomed them with garlands.
