KATHMANDU, Feb 14: The meeting of top leaders of the major political parties and the president ended inconclusively on Thursday, with the political parties agreeing to sit for another round of talks Friday on the formation of election government under the leadership of sitting chief justice (CJ).

The meeting held at Shital Niwas was inconclusive after UML requested time till Friday as the party´s standing committee meeting today remained undecided over the proposal to make the incumbent CJ the prime minister in the next government, which will oversee new Constituent Assembly elections. The UML has called an emergency central committee meeting for Friday at 8 am to forge the party´s stance on the proposal floated by UCPN (Maoist). The major parties´ talks will resume at 2 pm by when UML CC meeting will have been over.

It is learnt the parties are now very close to agreeing to an election government under the leadership of CJ. Exiting from the meeting, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said, "Should the UML CC meeting tomorrow decide in the favor, there will be a new government under the leadership of CJ."
