KATHMANDU, March 29: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday warned that Nepal’s nationality and sovereignty would be at stake if the political parties are always after issues of cheap popularity.

Talking to a delegation of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) at his residence, Yadav said extremist views have been weakening the nation. “I want to remind you that your writing in this fluid situation must help safeguard this nation’s integrity, sovereignty, national unity and communal harmony,” he told journalists. He also urged the journalists to exercise restraint during their writing and ensure that rights of all the groups are safeguarded. He also said press freedom was safe only in a democratic system.

He suggests the parties to do away with racism and regionalism.
