Parliamentary special committee formed to probe Soti incident of Rukum

KATHMANDU, June 8: The federal parliament has formed a special committee to probe the Soti case of Western Rukum.


The meeting of the House of Representatives held on Monday decided to form ‘Chaurjahari Municipality Soti Incident Probe Parliamentary Special Committee’ to probe the Sori incident and submit a report to parliament.

The motion to form a nine-member probe committee led by Devendra Paudel was endorsed by the house unanimously.


Yekbal Miya, Durga Paudel, Parbati Kumar Bisunkhe, Prakash Rasaili, Bimala BK, Maheswor Jung Gahat, Min Bahadur BK and Ram Shah Yadav are the members of the committee. The committee will have to present its report within 30 days of formally starting its investigation.


On May 24, six youths had lost their lives at Chaurjahari, West-Rukum just because of an inter-caste love affair.
