Parliamentary panel records statements of GB Rai’s partner Chabilal Joshi in connection with cooperative fraud case

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The parliamentary special inquiry committee has recorded the statements of Chabilal Joshi Banjade, a business partner of GB Rai, the owner of Galaxy Television, in connection with a cooperative fraud case.

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The parliamentary special inquiry committee has recorded the statements of Chabilal Joshi Banjade, a business partner of GB Rai, the owner of Galaxy Television, in connection with a cooperative fraud case.


Joshi was summoned to Singha Durbar for questioning regarding alleged embezzlement of funds from the Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara, Supreme Cooperative in Butwal and Sahara Cooperative in Chitwan. These funds are suspected to have been diverted through Gorkha Media.

The committee is also set to record the statement of Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Managing Director of Galaxy Television, later today.


Surya Thapa, chairman of the Committee, stated that the process of gathering statements is nearing completion, with the focus now shifting to drafting the final report. The committee has indicated that there is evidence suggesting that Lamichhane and others were involved in embezzling funds by transferring money from various cooperatives.
