Parliament to study untouchability

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The meeting of the Legislature Parliament´s committee on women, children and social welfare on Sunday decided to mobilize different parliamentary committees to study about the ethnic discrimination and untouchability practice in the eastern and the far-western regions of the country.



The committees would have the studies on field within a week and submit reports to the committee, said committee member Binod Pahadi.



The committee on women, children and social welfare has been studying about the deuki, jhuma, and polygamy customs by meeting concerned people in persons and holding discussion on finding the measures to curb social malpractice.
